Lincoln

Hananiah Lincoln Sr was the oldest child of Thomas Lincoln Sr and Elizabeth Davis. Hananiah married his first wife name unknown in 1778/9. The only child of this marriage was Thomas Lincoln. Hananiah then married Sarah Jane Jefferies on Feb 9,1787. The bride was the daughter of Moses and Sarah Jefferies. Hananiah and Sarah had several children whose names were Moses Jefferies, Austin, Davis, Ellender, and Lucy. Sarah died in 1800 and Hananiah married Lucy Wilson in 1801. There were no known children of this union.

Hananiah was born after 1756 in Exeter Township, Berks Co Penn. He served in General George Washington's Army in the American Revolution as a Sergeant, 1st Lieutenant, and Captain between Jun 1775 and Oct 17, 1777. He saw combat at the Siege of Boston, major battles of Princeton, Brandywine and Germantown as well as numerous minor but sharp engagements.

Thomas Lincoln was living with his father Hananiah on Mescnack Creek in Cumberland, now Monroe, Co, KY when he married Patsy Gee(b.1782) in 1799. Thomas migrated to what is now Preble Co, Ohio in 1810. Thomas and Patsy lived here a good part of their lives before moving to Montgomery Co, IN. They had 10 children named James, Thomas, Martha, Jefferson, Ananias, Sarah, Susanah, Elizabeth, Jesse Gee, and John.

John Lincoln, son of Thomas and Patsy, married Harriet Hulse in 1829. They remained in Preble Co, OH until John's death in 1845. When he died, John left the widow Harriet and five minor children. The children were Henry L. (b.20 Apr 1830), Lucy Ann (b.11 Apr 1833), Elizabeth (b.26 Aug 1836), David (b.26 Jun 1838), and Mary Jane (b.30 Apr 1841). John owned some land in Indiana, which when he died went to his children but since they were minors there was a Preble Co Probate Case #1147 for guardianship of the children and their part of the estate. In the 1850 US Census for Preble Co, the children were located at several homes in the area. David Lincoln is 12 and living with the John Landis family and Henry is 20 and living with the George Wiley family. The widow Harriet has remarried to Exum Bond and they are living with Elizabeth and Mary Jane Lincoln and a new daughter Minerva Bond. Lucy Ann seems not to have been counted in that census. However, we must assume that she was in the area somewhere because on Jan 13, 1856, she married Issac S Campbell in Preble Co.

The land was held in trust for the children until 1859 and eventually sold at a Sheriff's sale Jan 19, 1861 and we assume the proceeds split between the children.
