Individual Note:
      Fletcher's Lake Cemetery is at the NE corner of Fletcher's Lake, on 475W
at 975S. There are 3 sections: West section, section south of the
Church, and section north of the church. Inscription on headstone nearly
invisible when visited 10/13/1991. He is buried close to his mother.

Individual Note:
      His death certificate lists occupation as abstracter and Insurance agent.
The cause of death was pulmonary edema and respiratory paralysis. He
had livied in LaMoure since 1895.
His Civil War records said he was born in Tippecanoe Co. He had hazel
eyes, black hair, dark complexion and was 5 feet 7 1/2 inches tall. He
served in the Civil War enrolling 18 Mar 1865 at Lafayette, mustered in
22 Mar 1865 at Lafayette and was mustered out at Stevenson Station,
Virginia. He was in Company E, 154th Regiment.
From the Rochester, Indiana Sentinel Saturday, July 3, 1875. Benjamin
Elliott with Ed Calkins and John W Elam left for the Black Hills. He
returned by September 25, 1875, "looking none the worse for the wear
and tear of the journey."

Individual Note:
      WPA records had first name as Alexander, Helen Dragon's notice had
first name as Washington. In the 1860 Census he is listed as Washington
Calahan and at that time his brother in law William Elliott is living with
him. His wife is not listed in the same dwelling.

Individual Note:
      Census said she had eight children and all were living. Resided in
Harrison Twp. at time of death. Kroeger record lists date of death as
January 15, WPA record as Feb 15. Parents were David Williamson born
in Ohio and Marie Hollenback born in Virginia.

Individual Note:
      Unmarried in 1900 census. John R. Elliott had birth date as 1866
however 1900 census has it as 1870. He advised that her obituary
advises that she was 67 years old when she died thus it must have been
1866.

Individual Note:
      Last name spelled Smally on WPA records and Smalley on sheet from
Helen Dragon and in records by Tombaugh.
The Inscription on his stone according to Tombaugh is as follows: Died
Apr 4, 1865, at age 38 yr - 10 mo - 29 da. "A member of Co. A. 155 Regt.
Ind. Vols." "Sincere, affectionate & kind as a husband, father, & friend.
Trusting in Christ to God. Upright in life & peace to the end." (Note: This
marker by S. Line: Rochester)
It appears Samuel Smalley was married a second time as in the cemetery
is also buried Mary L. Smalley, dau of S.C. & S.G., died Apr 11, 1865, at
age 5 mo & 18 d.
Also buried in the same plot is James W. Smalley, died 5-21-1871, aged
31 yrs, 5 mo, 22 days, soldier 6th Iowa Cavalry. His relationship is
unknown.
Tombaugh in Oct 6, 1974 described the Old Allison Farm Cemetry thusly,
this cemetery is on the north side of County Road 950S, between 500W
and 600W. Although the grass has been mowed, the cemetery might be
called an abandoned cemetery. Stones are crooked and broken and there
are many large clumps of weeds. Other sources advise that the cemetery
is also called Fletcher's Lake Presbyterian Cemetery.
He died at Camp Carrington (Camp Hospital) in Indianapolis of measles
and erysipelas.
